The Cisco 15530-CPU is a CPU/Switch Module designed for the Cisco ONS 15530 Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) Multiservice Aggregation Platform. It manages all system resources, including system modules, and provides a 10/100-Mbps Ethernet network management interface, a console terminal, and a modem connection for craft interface. The module supports a 32×32 at 2.5-Gbps crossbar switch, facilitating traffic aggregation for network routing and grooming. The system can be configured with redundant CPU/switch modules, where the redundant module operates as a hot standby with a switchover time of less than 50 ms in the event of a primary switch failure.
